The presidium of the Lithuanian Union of Fatherland suggests the new government of Lithuania to puzzle Russia with a problem of rouble contributions. As the tool for выбивания debts it is offered to use the veto at the introduction of Russia into the World Trade Organization (WTO). |
“In 1990 the Soviet power, blackmailing and punishing Lithuania for lawful political actions on independence restoration, has taken out and has confiscated savings of people rouble contributions. According to Стасиса Лозорайтиса, received in structures of the USA, the total sum has made 5 billion then доинфляционных roubles”, is spoken in the statement. In turn conservatives have counted up, that this sum has made 6,67 billion roubles.
Meanwhile not clear remains, how many it in present dollars. If to take a today’s course of the Russian rouble the sum of claims to Moscow makes 237 million USD. And if to take an official rate of the Soviet rouble of 60 copecks for 1 USD 11,1 billion USD turns out already. That is the Soviet reality for the Fatherland Union is represented to more advantageous, than present Russian.
The another matter, that a recognition of the Soviet roubles automatically means a recognition of legitimacy of the USSR, and thus absurd there are calculations of the Lithuanian radicals of a damage from occupation of Lithuania by Soviet Union.
