Present events occur in days when the 15 anniversary of an establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Lithuania is marked. The Russian Internet portal notices, that last two years between Vilnius and Moscow there is an open diplomatic opposition which has begun with promulgation by a Russian side of materials of Department of the state security, given an occasion to suspect the president of Lithuania Роландаса Паксаса and its some assistants of communications with the international criminality. In February, 2004 three Russian diplomats have been sent from Lithuania for gathering of the information as which in Vilnius consider illegal. In the answer in the end of March, 2004 Russia declared personas non grata of three employees of embassy of Lithuania in Moscow.
For last days heads of Lithuania one behind another have acted with open support of Georgia and actual condemnation of actions of Russia. It has begun with a call of support of Saakashvili the president of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus became which initiator: on September, 30th the leaders who have met in Lvov of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine have called the Georgian president to tell about the solidarity with it.
In the middle of last week the Diet of Lithuania has accepted the resolution On pressure of Russia to Georgia in which detention of the Russian officers in territory of Georgia has been named by quite lawful, and reaction of Russia to this event inadequate. Authors of the resolution have urged Moscow to refuse all sanctions against Tbilisi.
The Lithuanian right have reacted to the Russian-Georgian conflict even more sharply. The leader of Lithuanian conservatives Андрюс Кубилюс has urged the government to initiate a suspension of acceptance of Russia in the WTO, referring that entering similar economic actions against other state the country cannot be a member of the WTO.
