Sites of official bodies of the European Union from now on pass all in the Internet-domain with expansion .Сu. This action is dated for Day of the Europe which is marked on May, 9th. Latvia as it is usual, does not hurry up anywhere. |
Let’s remind, that since April, 7th Internet users in the countries of the European Union have acquired the right to register domain names in a zone .eu. Earlier such opportunity has been given only to legal persons. 1,5 thousand European firms is engaged in registration of private persons nearby.
For 5 months from the moment of the beginning of registration in a zone .eu in organization Eurid supervising the domain has acted 335 thousand inquiries. The leader by their quantity became Germany (28 %), outstripped the Netherlands (16,6 %) and France (11,1 %).
Registration of domain names has officially begun on December, 7th, 2005. Within first two months to submit applications public organizations and owners of trade marks, on February, 7th с.г had the right only. Reception of applications from owners of " other rights " to domain names has begun.
As the press-secretary of secretary of minister on Toni Sabovits’s electronic management has informed Telegraph, the Latvian state institutions yet do not plan to pass to the domain with expansion .eu. However, in the future anybody it it to make will not prevent, as the decision – to change .lv on .eu or not – can accept each ministry or state agency it is independent.
